Legal practice demands strict confidentiality. Not every practitioner in a large law firm should have access to sensitive commercial briefs, high-profile criminal matters, or private matrimonial files.

Collaborator Roles on a Case

Inside each case file, team members can have one of three roles:

• Lead Advocate: The primary counsel on record for the case. Can invite other colleagues, edit case details, upload court documents, and manage billing.
• Collaborator (Full Access / Edit): Can draft pleadings, add case notes, schedule hearings, and view files. Cannot invite external practitioners or remove colleagues.
• Collaborator (View Only): Can read the file contents, court dates, and notes, but cannot make alterations or delete documents.

How to Invite a Colleague to a Case

1. Open the Case File.
2. In the right-hand panel, locate the Collaborators section.
3. If you are the Creator of the case, the Lead Advocate, or a Managing Partner, you will see the + Add Collaborator button.
4. Select the colleague from the firm's user directory.
5. Set their access level (Can Edit or View Only).
6. Click Add Collaborator.

STRICT COLLABORATOR INVITATION RULE

To prevent unauthorized sharing of sensitive files, invited collaborators cannot invite other lawyers to the case unless explicitly designated as Lead Counsel or approved by a Managing Partner.
